This is a rich history of the place I call home. Wonderful maps and pictures. Lots of interesting stuff about the original inhabitants and those who followed. It's written as if it's a chat between the author and the reader. And the later stories about movie stars and celebrities are fascinating. I've been walking around and looking at my "neighborhood" with a new appreciation of how this community came to be.It's a terrific read.

The book cleverly weaves together 150 years of history of Studio City. It was fun to learn that Studio City was seeped in the movie industry, and that it played an important and unique role in the history of Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. Great to read about the unexpected parts of the history. Loved the humor.
If you live, love or know anything about Studio City you will enjoy this book. It is well written, well research and a lot of fun.
Studio City- A Mile of Style is a history of Studio City that is delightful reading and very informative. It describes the impact transportation, oil and entertainment moguls had on the development of Studio City, the San Frenando Valley and Los Angeles. You are treated to tidbits of celebrity gossip as well as the everyday goings on of its residents. The book gives you a feel for life there. After reading, you might even wish you lived there.
